Kooga Docs

Shopify

Connecting Shopify syncs your products, pages and policies into Kooga. You bring your own keys: you create an app in your own Shopify organization and give Kooga its credentials, so access stays yours to revoke.

Where do I find the client ID and secret?

In the Shopify Dev Dashboard (dev.shopify.com), create an app - for example "Kooga". No app URL or redirect URLs are needed.
Under the app's Admin API access scopes, add read_products and read_content - nothing else is needed.
Install the app on your store. Kooga can't connect until it's installed. If you add scopes later, reinstall so they take effect.
Copy the Client ID and Client secret from the app's settings page and paste them into Kooga, along with your .myshopify.com domain.

Why my own app instead of just signing in?

Kooga exchanges those credentials directly with your store for a read-only API token. Shopify only allows this for apps created in your own organization, so the credentials cannot be used from anyone else's app.

What you seeWhat to check
Enter your .myshopify.com domain, e.g. acme.myshopify.comUse the .myshopify.com domain, not your custom storefront domain.
Paste the app's client ID and client secretOne of the two fields is empty.
Connection failed - check the domain and credentialsUsually the app is not installed on the store yet, or the scopes were added after installing and it has not been reinstalled.

What's next

Once connected, the assistant and the tracker install themselves as a Shopify app embed - see install the widget. Your catalogue appears under Products and orders under Orders.
